The Tongue Point Lookout is located on Whitsunday Is north of Whitehaven Beach and provides grand views of Whitehaven and Hill Inlet. It is a major tourist attraction in the Whitsunday Islands. JHLD was commissioned by QPWS to design a system of boardwalks and viewing platforms along a ridge line, with limited impact on the surrounding vegetation and site feature. JHLD delivered final documentation, including structural engineering in Feb 2008 and construction of the lookout was completed at the end of 2008.
Scope of works undertaken included:
- Extensive consultation with QPWS.
- Detailed design of the deck and walkway.
- Consultation and collaboration with engineer
